Archive Notice
The Language of Landscape: Reading the Anglo-Saxon Countryside project ran from 2004 until 2008 and the website is being retained as an archive of the project and is no longer updated. The resource has been converted to a static format to allow continued access but with reduced functionality, e.g. the lemma search no longer works but may be browsed and some other interactive features may not work as expected.
For example: a free text search has been added to aid discovery, in which results are occasionally limited for partial words. When including a non-standard character in a search, users may need to type an additional letter to return results. E.g. “mÆ” does not give any results but “mÆg” does, as the search requires the user to type two characters and does not recognise clicking on “Æ” as typing.
