It was potentially touch-and-go as to whether the 'Anglo-' part of ‘Anglo-Saxon’ prevailed rather than the 'Saxon'. In the end the names ‘Englisc’ (English) and ‘Englaland’ (England) prevailed, with ‘Seaxe’ surviving in Sussex, Essex etc.
If instead it had been ‘Seaxe’, the English could have been Sexish living in Sexland!
